Talk Pluralism to the Kids

WD01 Bhinneka Tunggal Ika
Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is the motto of the Republik Indonesia. It is from the old Javanese phrase and often translated with the phrase "Berbada - beda tetapi tetap satu (Unity in Diversity)". Bhineka means "beraneka ragam (diverse)". Neka word in Sanskrit means "macam (kind)" and to forming the word "aneka (variety)" in Bahasa Indonesian. Tunggal word means "satu (one)". The word ika means " itu (it is)". Literally Bhinneka Tunggal Ika translated as "Beraneka Satu Itu (Wide One That)", which means even vary but Indonesian essentially remain unity. The motto is used to describe the unity and integrity of Republik Indonesia which consists of different cultural, language, region, race, ethnicity, religion and belief.

Unfortunately, in recent decades the phrase is only a slogan and not a lot young people who understand its meaning and moreover practice the value. The weak understanding among them allegedly spread the seeds of discord and violence in various places in the country today. Through Little Indonesia we aim to campaign the values contained in the great slogan, hopefully will contribute to build the vision of next generation which is able to practice the value of pluralism
